Become a Certified Food Safety Manager

If you supervise food preparation, manage kitchen staff or oversee food safety procedures, you may need a nationally recognized credential to meet state or local requirements. eFoodcard makes it easy to obtain your Certified Food Protection Manager (CFPM) certificate.

Our nationally accepted exam is accredited by the ANSI National Accreditation Board (ANAB) and can be taken with remote proctoring or at an in-person testing center. Choose the exam on its own or bundle it with our 100% online self-paced training course to help you prepare for test day.

Why It Matters

CFPMs play an important role in protecting customers, employees and businesses from food-related illnesses. A knowledgeable supervisor can identify risks before they become serious problems and establish procedures that reinforce safer daily operations.

This helps support:

Consistent sanitation practices

Better preparation for health inspections

Stronger day-to-day operational oversight

Lower risk of safety and compliance issues

Increased customer trust

Effective food handler training and guidance

Having this credential demonstrates that you have the skills to manage a clean, safe and professional food establishment.

How much does the certification cost?

The total cost depends on the package and testing format you choose.

Can I take the CFPM exam online in my state?

Many states accept remote-proctored exams, but acceptance can depend on local regulations. If online testing is available in your area, you must meet the system requirements and provide a valid ID.

Is this exam equivalent to other CFPM exams?

Yes, our ANAB-accredited exam, offered in partnership with StateFoodSafety, meets national standards for certification and is equivalent to exams from ServSafe (National Restaurant Association), the National Registry of Food Safety Professionals (NRFSP), Learn2Serve (360training.com) and Prometric.

How long is my certificate valid?

Food manager certification is valid for five years in most locations. However, some states or local jurisdictions may have different renewal requirements. Always verify the expiration period that applies to your location.

How quickly will I receive my certificate?

You can download and print your certificate immediately after passing the exam.

What happens if I fail the test?

If you don't pass on your first attempt, you may be able to retake the exam. Retesting policies, waiting periods and fees can vary, so review the requirements in your area before scheduling another attempt.

Is the training mandatory?

Training is optional but strongly recommended.

Is a food handler card the same as a food manager certificate?

No. Food handler training is intended for employees who prepare, serve or handle edible products. Manager-level certification is designed for supervisors responsible for overseeing food safety procedures, employees and compliance within an establishment.
